Though everything in their graphic outlay doesn’t interest us the least, mostly because of the irritative pink color that drowns out everything else, we’re indeed satisfied not having to look at it close enough for too long. When it comes to their music—it’s is a cunning blend of three different genres—that would be extremely bland if they were to be separated. People can say anything they want about clichés, but the lyrical content is fairly good and is above average when combined with the overlapping electronic music they combine with bombastic, subliminal percussion which upholds the rest of their magnificence – alongside dreamy riffs, indie-pop melancholia and oddly enough – dark-wave.
The rhythms they’ve created entwine with the darker waves that break through, connecting them with the inherent structure of the lyrics and also the rest of the sound-scape. Whereas their name might be a bit odd when you think about it, Fathers can’t be held accountable for delivering yet another repetitious wreck of music. It’s actually inspiring and calming to hear everything come together as if it was meant to be. There’s a red line through and through, interestingly enough they have accomplished the near-impossible of connecting the dots almost perfectly in their first output. It wouldn’t be a surprise if they’re veterans when it comes to making music, but if they aren’t – it doesn’t really matter – because these three songs are masterpieces in and of themselves. Not searching for something special, I came across a wild concoction of old-school sounding industrial. It’s not what you would expect from yesteryear’s version of it, but rather with an electronic body wrapping and an experimental setting. Frantic beats with electronically wired melodies and an unpolished exterior is exactly what MetaMorphosys is. Besides being the alter-ego of Cory Tucker, it’s also his playground for experimenting with an industrial sound. His album; “Out Of The Picture” was originally recorded back in 2013, but have been re-furnished as “Version 2” and re-released. The simpleness of the rhythms are paired with an analogue sound you’d simply dream of setting up yourself. This is something I would expect to come out of Nostilevo, except maybe not as melodious or accessible as this actually is. For you electronic body enthusiasts, you might find yourself to be settled in perfectly with his atmosphere. Somewhere along the line besides the general funkiness that can be heard at times, he moves into experimentalism with a noisier-than-thou approach to some tracks that feel like placeholders before an excellent track. Dark melodies shift through an upbeat electronic motion, that cyborgs would’ve envy had they unearthed this album decades from now. Although some of the lyrical content and his vocals sound amateurish enough, it isn’t really that which is keeping me from listening to it. The general sound of his creations are enough to pull me in and stay listening throughout the whole album. You should listen to it yourselves. The crass musique concréte is the way to go. Hollowfonts delve into a largely unattainable atmosphere through field recordings, noise, drone and musique concréte as the main components of this landscape of metamorphosing sound. With the man Michael J. O’Neal behind the steering wheel, this experimentation in sound is way above the expectations. His recorded material from 2013-2014 have been assembled into a limited cassette titled “XLVIII” – making this his debut-album on Phinery; a record-label based out of Denmark. It delves into a certain kind of industrial landscape, maybe a post-industrial one. Showcasing each component within the sound-scape, utilizing the scrapped metal writhing into an ambient, almost hallucinatory landscape. The brute intentions swirl into themselves creating a magnificent landscape which is probably out of bound for any human. A spaced-out drone is compiled between the desecrated landscape, an equivalent to a Mars-landing for the first time. Houston has no problem with indulging himself into this suspense-ridden atmosphere. Within the blink of an eye everything can be changed into something more sinister. It’s like going against a sandstorm of mighty sounds that just think nothing of you, as nature has its way. It is also going out of its own way to be fatiguing to the mind and body. I feel a certain kind of strain on my ears when I listen to it, a draining feeling – but I must keep going. Sweet, sensational melodies that touch your nerves and proceeds to you grant an emotional reaction. The perfection of math rock, rock’n’roll, psychedelic rock, post-hardcore and good old experimentalist post-rock. Interestingly enough, they’ve worked on this EP for a mere four months and are now finished. Working hard pays off, or so it seems. If you grab a hold of my hand, let me take you into the world of Pilgrimage. Where the melodies are central to the word of mouth that’s coming out. Instrumentally indulgent to a degree, fierce and with a talkative notion of riffs that are spaced out. Born like a wildflower, stepped on like a rock, plucked out of the lot as a bright example. Pilgrimage is Matt DeOliviera, Charlie Reese, Jeremy Cranmore and Clint Wooley. They’re from Lakeland, Florida and they do this all by themselves. If you haven’t heard of them before, they’re Fluorescent Records and they specialize in digital releases that are up free for download. Their main focus is on eclectic and experimental electronic music, with a little bit of tentacles in everything, amongst other things the following genres: future garage, ambient, witch house, et cetera. They’re totally DIY and are based out of Tallahassee in Florida, run by Daniel Geraci and Johnny Boles. With that in mind, they’ve managed to become a global collective which caters to everyone’s interest within the electronic genres.
