In collaboration with Stockholm/Manchester-based label Maternal Voice, we bring to you the video for Målgrupp‘s (Julian Murray) release from 2017, “Musik från Gallerian“, with music taken from the B-side of the release. This is dystopia, harrowing pieces of field recordings that would not be understandable at all without a context. The utter creepiness of modern urban planning and popular music disseminated to what it really is – a piece of garbage now meant for human consumption.
If everyone put on headphones in the vein of the sunglasses in the movie “They Live“, this is what they would hear throughout the repetitive music that perforates everyone’s mind, you cannot escape it and it will force its way upon you. I don’t really know what to make of the “music” itself more then that it is a form of anti-music that is very much needed in times where you only need to produce a simple track around 3 minutes that has no inherent meaning anyway.
In a way, this anti-music corrodes the fabric of what popular music actually is when not heard through the ears of the “normal” person – it is what music listeners hear when it is stripped of all the glamor, melodies and hype that surrounds it. A shitfest reserved for those with no taste, ironically a totally different track started playing automatically after this video – it was exactly what we portray in words here.
