As people whom are interested may have noted, the much revered Malignant Records have recently unleashed the furious picture-disc 12¨ split between DEATHSTENCH and Trepaneringsritualen – whose presence haven’t gone unnoticed. The total American Armageddon of the death-industrial and dark ambient, which John Paul Whetzel and Darea Plantin have been in charge of releasing under the name of DEATHSTENCH, has been widely appraised, and so it should’ve. From their first ever split-release with Demonologists on Black Goat Records, to their first album where they’ve been solely represented by themselves, “Massed In Black Shadow” – they’re a force to be reckoned with, despite their presence being dated back to 2011. John Paul is probably most known for his work in the group Welter In Thy Blood, so he is by no means a novice. Darea Plantin isn’t one either, being John Paul’s sole collaborator under the same name. Not to mention the countless other groups and monikers they’ve attached themselves to.
The reason to why I’m not bringing up Trepaneringsritualens origins, is because this post is not really about his work. This post is about the split-side on the picture-disc they’ve been featured on together, but this time it’s all up to DEATHSTENCH to prove themselves. Or maybe not, because it’s me – the Invisible Guy – who’s proven himself to be faithful enough to get the honor to premiere the whole A-side of this picture-disc. Yes, it features them, and you might be surprised as to what is lurking in the shadows nearby. Anyway, I got the honor to premiere the two tracks “Damnum Mitanum” and “Temples of Dust (ft. Alan Dubin)” off the first side of this picture-disc. I’m really thankful and I hope you enjoy streaming these two menacing sound-waves, that should be called beastly and horrifying – but I’ll leave it for you to decide yourself. I’d also like to give a huge thank you to Jason of Malignant Records, for making this possible. You might also want to embrace yourself for something else, but more about that in the future to come (if there is one). Buy the release here.
