Cold Spring is shipping the “Skullflower / Mastery Split“-release tomorrow, which makes this even more interesting, since I’m going to premiere a track for you together with Cold Spring. Since stuff has been moving a lot quicker then expected, it’s coming now. The split is compromised of the three tracks by Skullflower, titled as “Wolf Age“, “Red Crystal Serpent” and “Black Sunshine“. Mastery has one track which goes by the name of “Blood Electric“. The artwork is simply astounding and minimalistic in every sense possible, but there’s no need to not have any dead space. In particular, the track that I’m going to share with you, has everything you’d ever want to hear that’s related to Skullflower. Crackling noises, hissing environments, ritualistic enchantment, high-pitched distorted vocals, and a sense of dismay. A continuous stream of distortion that is slowly making a rhythmical gesture towards you, together with the vastness of the underground. This full-on balsamic noise for your soul isn’t ever going away any time soon. It reflects the spirit of them. Anyway, we’ve decided to let you listen to the track “Black Sunshine“, which is the A3 track on this vinyl-only release. You can either get it in a standard edition limited to 400 copies, or in the special edition which includes 100 hand-numbered copies on green vinyl, which can only be bought from the Cold Spring mailorder directly. If you like what you’re hearing, don’t forget to buy it. Down below is also some information about the release from the label itself.

Skullflower / Mastery | Skullflower / Mastery

SKULLFLOWER presents a trinity of sombre meditations evoking Europe after the rain, drowned ruins, sunken dreams: spiders run across harpsichords in deserted schlosses and chateaus, doors slam and phantom demon choirs are summoned at seances by Blatavskian crones, whose impenetrable china blue dolls eyes open onto Tibetan vistas, terrible, ancient and remote…

MASTERY is improvised one man cosm(ag)ick from Ephemeral Domignostika. Total berzerker black metal, rooted in the tradition of true grim blackness, but filtered through Mastery’s cracked perception, transforming this into something beyond true; a droned out and damaged, outsider blackness, that sounds pretty much unlike almost any other black metal.
